No fewer than 188 supporters of Muslim brotherhood have been sentenced to death in Egypt following an attack near a police station in Cairo last year.The attack is said to have taken place the same day Egyptian security forces broke up protests camps set up my the brotherhood leading to 100 deaths.Egypt has been seriously criticized for its crack down on Muslim supporters of former president Mohammed Morsi. Hundreds of death sentences have been passed but non have been carried out. The latest sentences are subject to the opinion of Egypt's top religious authority the "Grand Mufti". Final verdict is due on the 24th of January 2014, after which defendants may appeal.
